A well-established brand and crop producer based in Johannesburg has a permanent position available for a Strategic Operations Manager. The position will be responsible for developing and managing budgets, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Workshop whilst playing a key role in developing and implementing long-term strategies. The Strategic Operations Manager will be expected to review the Workshop workflows and determine strengths, weaknesses, operational effectiveness and opportunities eventually making recommendations based on internal and external factors to minimize risks and formulate plans to achieve an organization's long-term goals. This role will also be responsible for developing and managing relationships with key vendors and suppliers.

Requirements:


  • Tertiary qualification in Process/Industrial Engineering/Project Management/Similar
  • Approx 5 years' experience in similar role with proven track record of developing and executing operational strategies.
  • Approx 5 years' experience using data analytics to solve business problems.
  • Advanced MS Office and Excel skills
  • SQL experience will be an advantage
  • Experience answering unstructured business questions and work independently to drive projects and analytical tasks.
  • Expert communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of leading initiatives, hitting goals, and succeeding in a fastpaced, team environment.

Duties:


  • Overseeing the daytoday Operations in the Workshop (workshop deals with maintenance of company cars, industrial farming equipment, packhouse machinery & maintenance of company housing, serving as service department for all maintenance issues on farm)
  • Translating Strategy into Operations.
  • Drafting and implementing performance standards for the whole Workshop department
  • Creating processes for the smooth and efficient running of the Workshop department
  • Aligning departmental goals, processes and resource allocation with the organizational strategy.
  • Assessing supply chain vulnerabilities and making recommendations for improvement
  • Conducting analyses of operations data and making recommendations for improvement based on findings
  • Conducting research and analyses of operational effectiveness, processes, stakeholders, etc.
  • Conducting research and analyses of potential effectiveness, processes, stakeholders
  • Creating and implementing operational plans for an organization's activities, including making decisions about locations, budgets, staffing levels, and timelines
  • Develop and manage budgets for operational activity
  • Develop and oversee operational processes and procedures to ensure they are aligned with the company's strategic objectives
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards
  • Evaluate current processes and make recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness
