Key outputs


The main purpose of the role is to act as a custodian for the company's fixed assets by ensuring that standard accounting practices are followed to record and keep track of all transactions relating to Barloworld Equipment's fixed assets.

This role will add value to the Shared Services division and the individual will focus on the following Key Performance Indicators

  • To ensure good corporate governance, in terms of internal control implementation and ensuring operating effectiveness of controls
  • To provide accurate financial information to the business
  • Maintain the fixed asset register
  • Run depreciation
  • Prepare Asset Recons
  • Provide the asset information required by head office for the purpose of completing the audit pack
  • Assist in the creation/release of asset purchase requisitions
  • Attend to asset queries
  • Assist with costs/depreciation values for the preparation of budget
  • Dispose and Transfer assets when required
  • Manage the verification of assets by the business
  • Analyse the nature of costs related to assets under construction
  • Create internal orders and assets under construction
  • Acquire asset under construction when projects are finalized
  • Log and manage calls with SAP Team for asset queries
  • Follow up on asset projects that are under construction
  • Pull asset report required by the business
  • Calculate the monthly warranty provisions
  • Prepare the recons for the warranty provision
  • Weekly clearing of warranty suspense accounts
  • Follow up with the warranty team on outstanding items
  • Attend to internal/external audit requests
  • Responsible for the review and releasing of supplier payments
  • Attending to adhoc requests from the Finance Managers and the business

Qualification, Experience and Competencies

Minimum Required Qualification:


  • Matric
  • Formal accounting qualification would be an advantage

Minimum Required Experience:


  • At least five years' experience in an accounting environment
  • Good people management skills
  • Business development skills and knowledge sound business and financial acumen
  • Exposure to business planning and budgeting processes
  • Sound business communication skills
  • Sound MS Office knowledge
  • Sound SAP knowledge
