    Description

    Solar Project Engineer

    As a Project Engineer, you will oversee the technical construction and operations aspects of both internal and external solar projects. Your role will involve design, project development and project management for small-scale (100kWp – 5MWp) projects.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
    • Proven experience in solar project management and engineering.
    • Excellent knowledge of solar energy systems, construction, and electrical infrastructure.
    • Proficient in project management tools and software.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.

    Typical Activities Include:

    • Ensure quality designs are delivered on time and according to specification.
    • Perform design verifications of existing projects.
    • Manage the execution of technical and design components of projects in the fields of LV/MV/HV electrical infrastructure.
    • Oversee project management from design to O&M handover, including project planning, equipment procurement, contractor appointments, and ensuring projects are on time and meet expectations.
    • Monitor and manage project financials, including approving or actioning supplier and client invoices.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives and eliminate unnecessary expenses.
    • Adhere to project budgets for design, manufacturing, and commissioning.
    • Foster innovation within the organisation and suggest process improvements.
    • Provide support and guidance to junior employees, including mentoring and training.

    Location: Rosebank, Johannesburg (On-site)

    Key Competencies:

    • Communication: Able to communicate information and ideas clearly and articulately both in oral and written form. Uses appropriate language, style and methods depending on the audience and the purpose of communication. Able to convey complex information clearly. Anticipates the information that others will need.
