- Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
- In collaboration with SHE department, promote health and safety practices to enhance continued safe, stable and capable operations.
- Co-ordinate site visits by internal and external visitors to ensure adherence to site safety systems (including induction).
- Lead and support SHE related initiatives.
- Corporate/BU P&O business expectations or critical tasks requirements and performance targets to site level/ projects.
- Ensure delivery to project and operational plans.
- Develop P&O operational plans that aligns with critical tasks and communicate expected operational readiness outcomes to on- site P&O teams.
- Interface and align with Group and BU on required expert support to deliver in line with plans.
- Provide a business partner support and expert advice to the GM Operational readiness leadership team.
- Contribute the P&O element in the development of an integrated, cross-functional Operational Readiness Management Plan (ORMP) aligned with the greater underground Project Execution Plan (PEP),
- Provide labour resourcing input into site-specific operational readiness plan as well as the 5-year plan and 1-year budget.
- Define and classify the business processes and map against people / skills and technological requirements to support a seamless transition.
- Communicate and cascade P&O-specific components of plan effectively throughout teams on site.
- Ensure labour resource levels on site are set and delivered appropriate to the project plan as well as having foresight into the operational plan requirements.
- Projects resourcing oversight.
- Develop contractor management processes and oversight – resource budget, onboarding, compliance assessment and offboarding to enable a well understood contractor recruitment and onboarding process which also enhances opportunities for local employment.
- Ensure innovative technologies and digitalized processes are used within P&O to maximize, streamline, and simplify development and monitoring of performance.
- Develop and align site P&O initiatives and programmes with BU and Group strategy.
- Provide best in class P&O operational readiness initiatives to ensure effective delivery of the underground programme.
- Embed requirements into on-site processes and structures as required.
- Risk assessment and mitigation of all factors impacting on the successful execution of the HR element of the OR&T plan.
- Develop the training delivery model and learning management strategy to build and cater for the required Critical Talent and Underground's short and long-term skills requirements.
- Ensure on-site structures, roles and processes are set up to sustainably deliver 5-year plan.
- Develop and implement a recruitment strategy that prioritizes recruitment needs for critical and scarce skills.
- Coordinate new hires and contractors onboarding critical for the project.
- Provide operational feedback to relevant stakeholders and various platforms.
- Proactively identify P&O-specific challenges and opportunities that new technology could address.
- Define challenges, opportunities, and impact within and beyond P&O discipline and have direct impact on the project.
- Actively seek expert input from Group and other subject matter experts (SME's) who lead solution design.
- Embed new technologies into the on-site P&O work once solution design is execution ready.
- Integrate Sustainable Mining Plan commitments into discipline 5-year plan, ensure sufficient physical and financial resources in place and drive delivery of relevant actions within discipline.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and social requirements as relevant to discipline, including commitments to stakeholders.
- Implement and participate in processes that build relationships with key local and external stakeholders.
- Participate in site-level local engagement forums as relevant to discipline.
- Ensure any engagements with stakeholders are consistent with long-term BU and Group sustainability initiatives and standards.
- Lead compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) requirements as a minimum level of site performance
- Honours Degree in HR or related field.
- Post Graduate qualification in Management.
- Qualification in Project Management will be advantageous.
- At least 10 – 15 years of technical knowledge and experience in HR.
- At least 5-10 experience in labour relations and labour management within the mining or construction industry.
