Minimum Required Qualification:

• Grade 12 (Maths and Science).
• Practical certificate in Mine Environmental Control
• Practical experience in Occupational Hygiene
• Valid Drivers License
• Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determine by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Occupational Health Centre.

Advantageous Qualifications:

• Degree/ Diploma in occupational hygiene or related field
• Registration with the South African Institute of Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH).

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure that legal requirement, group standard and policies are adhered to

• Ensures adherence to legal compliance through monitoring and reporting
• Conduct risk assessments, occupational hygiene (incl. public health) and participate in audits
• Maintain an effective risk assessment programme
• Maintain an effective occupational hygiene measurement programme.
• Participate in audits
• Ensures follow up of risk assessments and audit findings, and the implementation of recommendations made.
• Ensure execution of investigations with report completion.
• Occupational hygiene sampling.
• Report & interpret results.
• Conduct daily occupational hygiene inspections and record findings
• Meet time deadlines pertaining to reporting (daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc).
• Provide information and advice regarding occupational hygiene matters related to a specific workplace or section of the operation.
• Advises on changes to plans, schedules, procedures and standards to minimise the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.
• Ensures adherence to legal compliance in terms of required reports.
• Valid data for Occupational Hygiene are available for a specific workplace or section of the operation.
• Timeously submission of reports.
• Record and investigate occupational hygiene incidents.
• Take part in the investigation of incidents & follow up on actions.
• Contribute to the achievement of the SHE objectives and targets of the operation
• Support immediate supervisor to achieve improved performance.
• Participate in and support the development and acceptance of operational plans.
• Promote a safe and healthy working environment.
• Promote health & environmental awareness.
