Medical Aid rate based on principal member only)- To be confirmed- Advert Closing Date- 21/4/2023- Job PurposeManagement of the maintenance section, overseeing all installation, repair and upkeep operations of the Institutions' Facilities and lead maintenance procedures and actions. Management and co-ordination of effective service delivery in terms of service level agreements.

  • Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A BTech Degree in Built Environment/Building Management, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of Six (6) years' relevant working experience in maintenance and facilities management of which four (4) years must be at managerial level
  • A valid driver's license
  • Willingness to work after hours as required

  • Ensure Facilities are maintained in an effective and costeffective manner
  • Effective management of the maintenance department managing and give guidance to Foreman, artisans and support staff
  • Coordinate and oversee Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting & water proofing works
  • Responsible for the maintenance of Building, services, and facilities
  • Plan, Prioritize, organize and manage operations optimally in accordance with agreed service level agreement and strategic objectives
  • Develop functional policies and procedures to meet performance standards as stipulated in the Legal Requirements laid down in terms of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and General Machinery Regulations in relation to Maintenance and ensure that they are adhered to.
  • Manage operations optimally in accordance with agreed service level agreement and in line with the strategic objective of the institution
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and communicate effectively


  • Human Resources Management

  • Appointment, retention, performance management, training and development of skilled and experienced staff as well as maintaining employee relations


  • Financial Management

  • Managing operational expenditure according to quarterly projections and budgets. Setting and management of budget within the due diligence of projections
  • Prepare specifications and tender documents in cooperation with the other sections in the department to ensure compliance with the tender policy for all the work done by the outside contractors including maintenance contracts.
  • Report writing
- required to write and submit quarterly/yearly reports timeously as requested

  • Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Line Manager
