Job Advert Summary:

Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator Electrical the incumbent will be responsible to provide a technical guidance and back-up service to maintenance personnel on all specialised equipment, perform scheduled inspections to ensure plant reliability and maintain plant availability above required levels


Minimum Requirements:


  • Grade 12 (National Senior Certificate)
  • A tertiary qualification (National Diploma/advanced diploma) in Electrical Engineering
  • Heavy Current
  • Five years' relevant work experience in an industrial environment and on process and on process and electrically driven machinery related equipment
  • Work experience in medium voltage equipment will be an advantage
  • Valid Code B drivers licence with the ability to pass Rand water's K53 drivers test
  • Knowledge of installation regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Computer literacy in MS Office

Primary Duties:


  • Maintain and enhancement of planned maintenance systems
  • Ensure plant equipment and installations are maintained at acceptable standards
  • Initiate and perform the plant and equipment condition monitoring
  • Control and monitor contactors performing projects on site.
  • Provide sound technical reports regarding plants to maintenance
  • Participation and coordination of designed projects (project administration)
  • Commission the work after completion of installation
  • Expenditure within approved budgets (Financial planning and control)
  • Fault finding on existing installations
  • Research and advice maintenance management on industry best practices to be implemented for plant optimization
  • Implementation of asset management principals

Knowledge:


  • Electrical benchmarking techniques
  • Advanced electrical faultfinding techniques
  • Electrical network (MV/LV) and applicable electrical plant
  • Electrical drive gear (motors, VSD's)
  • Schematic drawings
  • Power transformers
  • Process equipment
  • Plant control
