Leading international FMCG company seeks to employ a Category Manager; to develop a long term category strategy, including category & brand growth.

This includes the planning of core brand availability instore as well as shelf management


Accountabilities

  • Developed a category scope and platform that provides incremental scope for category and business growth
  • Work with the Sales and Marketing Teams to identify and prioritise business growth opportunities and develop integrated business plans
  • Provide quarterly update to internal stakeholders on category growth and share development
  • Routinely analyse category, consumer, shopper, brand, competitor, and trade information and regularly conduct Point of Purchase audits
  • Identify and provide recommendations to leverage growth opportunities and assist the business with gap fill initiatives in order to deliver the business financial objectives
  • Commercial Lead on all category projects agreed with retail Customers
  • Analyse both category and company performance and make recommendations on shelf management
  • Engage with relevant Retailers in line with their category planning timetable
  • Provide strategic recommendation and development instore stock
  • Developed a store cluster model based on store profile and shopping missions which can be used across multiple categories
  • Support KAM in presentation of category management information to Category Buyer/ Planners at agreed meetings
  • Build effective working relationships and procedures with Sales and Marketing Teams to drive incremental category and brand growth

Education & Experience

  • B.Com Degree or suitable tertiary qualification
  • Minimum of 24 years in a Commercial Business role in an FMCG Company
  • High degree of analytical capability
  • Good IT knowledge
  • Takes responsibility and initiative.
  • Must be an excellent verbal communicator with good influencing skills
  • An international mindset is an advantage, covering aspects of open mindedness, cross cultural tolerance, adaptability, willingness to change
  • Able to work autonomously and as a team member
