Introduction
The Operations Manager assists the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with delivering effective operational support to all teams.

More specifically, this position enables all operations across our offices, including but not limited to health and safety practices and compliance, facilities management, and is a member of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Committee meetings.

This position reports directly to the CFO.

To be based in either Johannesburg Braamfontein or Cape Town Newlands


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage integration and alignment of operational and administrative policies, standards and practices to ensure that the organisation delivers effectively.
  • Proactively identify problem areas and bring these to the attention of the CFO.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the operations across the organization and recommend interventions where needed.
  • Review organisational processes across units and facilitate business process optimisation in collaboration with relevant managers
  • Oversee the operations and facilities management across South Africa
  • This includes offices (but not limited to) in Newlands, Braamfontein, Hilton, Stellenbosch,Kirstenbosch, Maclear and White River
  • Ensuring that owned and rented premises plus all assets are adequately maintained
  • Ensuring Braamfontein office maintains its 6star green star status.
  • Manage the carbon footprint. Monitor and minimize the use of flights, reduce paper,electricity, and water consumption, optimise the utilization of pool cars, etc.
  • Adequate resourcing of operations be it pool cars or office space. Securing suitable tenants fo
  • Braamfontein and implement sustainable office occupancy solution for Newlands offic
  • Ensure adherence and compliance to occupational health and safety laws and regulations including by:
  • Implement mechanisms to ensure the work environment, including landscapes and seascapes our teams work in, is safe and is without risk to the health of the employees.
  • Implement health and safety policies, standards and standard operating procedures relevant to organisational work activities and giving effect to requirement of relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Ensuring legal appointments in terms of sections 16.1 and 16.2 of the Occupation Health and Safety Act are appropriately made and there is compliance with the requirements of the Act.
  • Ensuring that employees have requisite awareness of health and safety risks and that adequate precautions.
  • Perform other duties relating to the operations and effective functioning as assigned by the CFO, including:
  • Deliver the organisation's Health & Safety function.
  • Is a member of the ICT committee meetings.
  • Optimise Netsuite functionality.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Related Tertiary Qualification in Administration/Business Management/Operations Management/ Project Management.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in managing the operations of a complex organization.
  • Experience in organization process and policy design and implementation.
  • Experience in supporting implementation of operational systems and business processes.
  • Knowledge and experience of applicable Health & Safety regulations and organizational
- implementation and monitoring thereof.

  • Facilities and vehicle fleet management experience.
  • Experience in working with various organization operational systems: Finance, Travel, IT.
  • Administrative & Project management skills.
