SHEQ Officer
Qualifications:
- Relevant post matric qualification in environment, quality, health and safety
- Certificate course in ISO14001 / OHSAS1800
- Code 08 drivers' license
- Quality Management degree/ Diploma
- Sound knowledge and experience in managing ISO 9001 and SABS 542:2015
Computer Packages:
- Microsoft office Package
- Efficient in internet use to source information
Overall responsibilities of the position:
Total management of health, safety, environmental and quality systems as per Marley and legislative requirements.
Key roles and responsibilities of the position:
- Development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures.
- Ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
- Safety Induction Training for employees and contractors
- Environmental awareness training and training on conducting audits.
- Coordinate and chair regular meetings with safety reps, management & union
- Implement OHSAS 1800
- Prepare plants for SABS audits
- Ensure relevant legal compliance
- Arrange internal audits
- Arrange surveys (Occupational & Environmental)
- Ensure effective incident management (COID)
- Review SER's and educate employees
- Conduct factory visits and audits
- Ensure files up to date
- Ensure that audit action plans are being fulfilled
- Intranet checked regularly
- Submit reports on Sharepoint (annual, monthly as required)
- Liaising with Municipalities and AIA's
- Regular hygiene checks e.g. ablutions, tearooms etc.
- Review roles and functions of management in terms of HSE
- Establish efficient reporting mechanism to report to management
- Conduct Internal Safety training to employees
- To participate and promote Near Miss and Safety Conversation Reporting
- To ensure that safety meetings are conducted monthly and all action plans are tracked accordingly
- To ensure that all compliance testing and checks are done, and deviations remedied timeously
- Ensure that everybody who enters the premises comply with the Health and Safety requirement
- Ensure ISO 9001 and SABS compliance
- Ensure that all test equipment is calibrated timeously and the required frequencies
- Ensure that the Lab Assistants and team leaders comply with Marley testing requirements and frequencies
- Prepare reports after customer complaint site visits
- Monitor production and yard scraps by populating on Pareto charts and putting action plans into place to remedy
- Ensure that good quality tiles and fittings are produced all the time
- To verify and sign all quality control documentation to ensure conformance to
- Give suggestions for process optimization
- Responsible for training employees on quality and quality systems
- Report any deviations to Production Foreman and Plant Manager
Behavioral Competencies:

- Must be able to think and plan ahead
- Ability to identify problems and provide solutions
- Willing to travel
- Efficient and effective time management
- To spend 6 hours daily in the factory and add value
Knowledge, experience and other requirements:
- Must have sound knowledge of HSE legislative requirements
- Excellent report writing skills
- Contacts and good relations with relevant bodies such as community health, DWAF etc.
- Well organized
- Excellent knowledge on how to conduct audits and implement changes
