Role purpose:

As product Manager for Big Data, you will work with various senior stakeholder in the international business. You be responsible for keeping track of the Big Data and AI agenda for Vodacom International. This will mean Big Data requirements gathering and tracking of the success.


Your responsibilities will include:

Creation of the Big Data Road Map for the international markets and AI products.
Developing and explicitly communicating the Product Goal
Creating and clearly communicating Product Backlog Items
Ordering Product Backlog Items
Ensuring that the Product Backlog is transparent, visible, and understood.
Define the product strategy and roadmap.

Create Machine Learning and AI products that provide actionable business insight to Vodafone and its stakeholders.
Developing predictive models with large and varied datasets, working with a community of colleagues across Advanced Analytics, technology, and data and customer functions
Contributing to the wider community to enable Machine Learning and AI capability across Vodafone globally.
Tracking and Monitoring Key KPIS for Big Data International across all OPCOS
Runing and Maitaining Stakeholder update session on Big Data and AI products
Be a part of the Development of machine learning models for various areas of the business on the Big Data Platform
Machine Learning Model performance tracking and reporting using e.g. Qlik
Uses data visualisation to engage audience in a compelling way, enabling effective storytelling.
Creation of Stakeholder update and reports on Big Data.
Work with lead data scientist to deliver key packages of work to meet the needs of business customers
Works in partnership with Big Data Engineering for data ingestion to support use cases
Presenting the results to technical and non
- technical audiences.

Work closely with product managers and business teams to create and maintain product backlog according to business value or ROI.

Drive the product
- and business-planning processes for cross-functional teams
Analyze customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI and build- perspective
Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation
Analyze product requirements and develop appropriate programs to ensure they're met
Develop, implement, and maintain production timelines across multiple departments
Appraise new product ideas and strategize appropriate go-to-market plans

Translate Big Data product strategy into detailed requirements for prototyping and final development by engineering teams and Data Scientist
Create product strategy documents that describe business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI
Analyze market data to develop product strategies, and define product objectives for effective marketing communications
Collaborate closely with Big Data engineering, Data Science on release of products and usecases, and balance resources to ensure success for the entire organization
Develop product positioning and messaging that Big Data Products across the IB Markets


Bachelor's or Master's Degree in quantitative fields like Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or related fields (essential) or Bachelors or Masters in Commerce or Business Administration.

A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in Data Science, AI or AI products.
Experiencing working with Big Data Tools and Implementation

Strong experience in a dynamic product management role
Proven success in overseeing all elements of the product development lifecycle
High effectiveness in managing cross-functional teams
Experience in delivering finely tuned product marketing strategies
Exceptional writing and editing skills, combined with strong presentation and public speaking skills

Experience in data manipulation:
use of structured data tools (e.g., SQL), and unstructured data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL)

Proficiency in at least one relevant programming language: Python, R
Experience in major machine learning and keen interest in Machine Learning and AI.
Exposure/interest in machine learning
Professional and/or academic experience in Big Data analytics & deployment of AI products.
Experience manipulating and analysing large and complex datasets /
Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Analytical and expansive thinking with a strong desire to deliver and develop
