    Introduction:


A leading financial inistitution based in Durban is in search of a dynamic and mutli-functional Human Resources Business Partner to join their team.


Description:


Employee Relations:

  • Advice & support line manager with regards to all ER queries, including misconduct, performance improvement, disabilities, disciplinary enquiries, & CCMA cases
  • Ensure all ER procedures meet both procedural & substantive fairness principles
  • Support line managers by drafting letters of concern, warnings, drawing up charges, & on the outcomes of disciplinary enquiries
  • Advice & guide line managers to ensure consistency in terms of sanctions & practice of Disciplinary & Grievances process
  • Respond to all appeals from employees' related disciplinary enquiries
  • If required, represent the business at CCMA on relevant matters & ensure bundles & witnesses are prepared in time for the CCMA hearing
  • Liaise with preferred service providers on matters that are outside of the company scope or area of expertise to ensure standards are maintained
  • Maintaining good knowledge of all the relevant labour legislation
  • Monitor all trends relating to employees (latecoming, absence, prior discipline, etc.)

Recruitment:

  • Coordinate work experience for students, where possible, within departments to build future talent pipelines
  • Support business initiatives to scout for future talent, by way of career fairs, etc.
  • Drive performance & career discussions within your departments
  • Educate & advise line managers on performance improvement meetings
  • Facilitate action plans being put in place regarding performance improvement for under performers in accordance with business policy & prevailing legislation
  • When vacancies or new roles occur, ensure that succession plans are reviewed in keeping with promoting from within

Organisational Effectiveness / Development:

  • Support company culture & communication initiatives with the departments & across the business as required
  • Manage & coordinate all planned wellness initiatives as per the wellness calendar for the year, with internal & external stakeholders
  • Support employees with any queries which relate to medical aid, retirement fund, payslips, leave, etc.
  • Monitor all sick leave trends on a monthly basis to ensure adequate support for employees that may require EAP assistance and/or the need for other interventions
  • Assist & guide line managers through the disability process in line with the business policy & relevant legislation
  • Assist line managers with injury on duty (IOD) claims process

HR Governance:

  • Comply with business policies & procedures & prevailing legislation that govern HR practices & principles
  • Review HR policies & process documents to ensure that they remain relevant & in line with business needs

Learning & Development:

  • Conduct training needs analysis to identify training needs and/or skills gaps
  • Partner with Learning & Development to identify & source appropriate learning interventions based on business & individual needs
  • Support Learning & Development in linking training interventions to Employment Equity & succession plans

HR Analytics:

  • Analyse various people statistics for departments & make recommendation on interventions
  • Provide feedback & trends to learners & HR Manager on areas of concern

Administration:

  • Prepare monthly HR reports on all HR areas & submit to HR manager by the stipulated deadline
  • Maintain the integrity of employee files & employee data on all HR systems and organograms
  • Prepare various letters, arrange meetings, coordinate functions or events, order & control stationary
  • File any objections relating to CCMA cases that have been referred
  • Support payroll by capturing / loading any new employees on the HR system
  • Ensure the budgets are tracked monthly

HR Projects:

  • Support the HR team & business with new & innovative initiatives that support the business & HR strategy

Education Profile:


  • Diploma / Degree in Human Resource Management
  • 35 years' generalist HR experience (Employee Relations, Recruitment, Talent Management)
  • Knowledge & understanding of all South African Labour Legislation
  • CCMA practice
