Responsibilities:
As a Buyer at Carrol Boyes, your responsibilities will include:
- Curate and select merchandise that aligns with market trends and customer preferences.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with vendors, negotiating terms, and ensuring seamless product procurement.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to plan product assortments, considering seasonality, trends, and customer demand.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels, working to optimize stock turn and reduce excess inventory.
- Negotiate pricing with vendors to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining product quality.
- Utilize data analysis to make informed purchasing decisions, including sales trends, customer preferences, and product performance.
- Work closely with internal teams such as marketing and sales to coordinate effective product launches, promotions, and sales campaigns.
- Communicate with factories and suppliers to ensure smooth operations, quality control, and adherence to delivery timelines.
- Support project planning and time management, tracking production processes from start to finish to maintain supplier timelines.
- Create purchase orders, track contracts, and manage payment processes efficiently.
- Attend trade shows, industry events, and vendor meetings to stay current with merchandise trends and developments.
- Provide administrative assistance to the merchandising team, including scheduling meetings, maintaining files, and preparing reports.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 35 years experience as a Buyer or in a relevant role, preferably in a retail and ecommerce environment, with exposure to homeware/appliances and cookware.
- A Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, business, economics, or a related field is preferable.
- Proficiency in computer literacy, Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, data extraction, and formatting), market research, data analysis, and forecasting techniques.
- Strong problemsolving skills and knowledge of merchandising best practices.
- Detailoriented, able to work under pressure, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a resultsfocused mindset.
