The Division of Internal Medicine is seeking the services of a Clinician for the
RANDOMISED EVALUATION OF COVID-19 THERAPY (RECOVERY) project for the South African
Durban.
S/he will be responsible for all the general clinical activities, as it relates to this clinical trial
at the eThekwini site. In addition, s/he will coordinate all research related activities,
delegate duties to research nursing staff, and monitor and supervise research nurses,
administration, safely and securely keep all trial records and organize regular staff
meetings to review and audit all research activities. S/he will work closely with the study
Principal investigators (Professor N Magula and Professor S Pillay (University of KwaZulu
- Natal)), data capturer and other research staff and report to the PI's on a regular basis,
National and International Collaborators. The PI's may, from time to time, delegate other
research related duties to her/him.
**Minimum Requirements: - MB ChB degree or equivalent.
- Current registration as a healthcare practitioner with the Health Professions Council
- Experience in global Covid19 Clinical Trials
- Experience in preparing reports to the South African Health Products Authority
- Valid Good Clinical Practice Certificate
- Active Medical Protection Insurance
- Valid motor vehicle driver's license and own transport
Essential Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of research including quality assurance and research ethics.
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Experience with electronic databases (collation, data entry and data analysis) and
- Experience in financial management
- Excellent planning, coordinating and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience in working with a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience with community based clinical research.
- Knowledge of UKZN policies and processes
