Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for an exciting new opportunity to join a global manufacturing company as part of their team.

We are looking to hire a Research & Development Chemist for a permanent position based in Bluff, Durban Kwazulu Natal.

Minimum Requirements:

Matric; BSc Honours Degree, Masters Degree preferable
Proven experience in R&D in an industrial or FMCG setting with a minimum of 23 years relevant experience
Strong theoretical and practical knowledge or organic, inorganic or physical chemistry with a focus on product development
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, understanding of root cause analysis
Excellent communication skills on all levels, and proven report writing and presentation skills to convey complex concepts to both technical and non technical audiences
Operates effectively under pressure and able to manage multiple changing priorities and team dynamics and ensures deadline are met whilst maintaining accuracy attention to detail and quality of output
Access to a network of external laboratories and consultants on supplement projects
Competent and understands quality systems, system standards, associated rules, regulations and legislation in the industry
Willing and able to travel between sites and visit customers (local) for product complaints, conferences and training

Collaborate with cross functional team and develop strategies, project networks and timelines
Develops relationship with external laboratories and institutions
Commission new equipment and technologies to expand capabilities needed
Evaluate and select raw materials for products, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during product development, including scaling production processes form laboratory to pilot or manufacturing scale
Prepare, report presentations and documentation to communicate research findings and maintain updates with stakeholders
Maintain accurate records of all experiments, procedures and results in compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements
Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols at all times, best practices and ensuring a safe working environment
