A distinguished,5-star hotel based in Hermanus has an opportunity for a Duty Manager.

The main purpose of this role is to communicate with all guests at the property and to provide effective leadership through professional management and encouragement of all subordinates.

Requirements:


  • Post matric hotel school qualification would be advantageous
years' experience in a 5-star hotel or similar environment

  • Opera knowledge advantageous
  • Previous leadership role
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level of English proficiency
  • Ability to plan, train and develop a team
  • Must be motivated, enthusiastic, and energetic
  • Must be a team player, with a positive attitude
  • Must be willing to work shifts (hospitality)
  • Must be able to work under pressure
  • Own transport preferable

Responsibilities:


  • To manage and oversee the daily operations in the hotel
  • Maintaining the required operating and service standard
  • Handling and resolving guest queries and complaints
  • Guest comment management
  • A high level of leadership and motivational skills,
  • Must be trustworthy and able to work with the hotel and guest money
  • Handle guest inquiries in a professional and effective manner
  • Ensure knowledge of hotel room categories and layout of the property
  • Ensure knowledge of different offerings at the property
  • Assisting in the management of guest accounts
  • Operate the hotel's

Property Management System:

OPERA

  • Check guest in upon arrival and check them out upon departure
  • Operate the switchboard and direct calls,
  • Restaurant bookings and hotel reservations
  • Assisting in the daily operations in the Food and Beverage department during meal periods
  • Liaise effectively between departments
