About the Position


Our client is looking for a driven and dedicated official to provide social science-based evidence to support response to social related events, human relations and human behaviour; and influence relevant interventions and influence programme delivery needs when required.

This will include providing delivery support through giving evidence-based research and advice to inform the process of designing, targeting, running and evaluating taxpayer and trader research-based interventions.

Job Purpose


The main purpose of the role is to ensure that the organization operates within its parameters by conducting studies in all aspects of society, past events, human relationships, and human behaviour amongst groups in order to analyse societal structures and suggest solutions to social, business, government and personal issues in order to determine the impact of policies and forecasts for tax purposes, in line with the Vision 2024 and Strategic Intent.

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

  • Relevant Honours / Postgraduate Diploma (NQF 8) AND 1015 years' experience in social research, program development and monitoring and evaluation in a commercial entity with a national footprint, of which 4 years at specialist level.
OR

  • Relevant Bachelor's Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) AND years' experience in a social research environment of a commercial entity with a national footprint of which 34 years should be at a specialist level.
Minimum Functional Requirements

Specific accountabilities will include, but may extend beyond the following:
People

  • Effectively lead and manage team of diverse team of researchers
  • Engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective management of interdependencies.
  • Provide specialist knowhow, support, advice and practice thought leadership in area of expertise.
  • Integrate new knowledge and transfer skills attained through formal and informal learning opportunities in the execution of the job.
  • Effectively network and build collaborative relationships to enable the effective resolution of bottlenecks including difficult having difficult conversations.
Processes and Governance

  • Lead in developing the parameters of studies, and oversee the analysis and execution of these studies
  • Strengthen the significance of these projects by contributing expertise of the field
  • Familiarity with published research and experience with designing and conducting different types of studies including benchmarking, metaanalysis, program design, monitoring and evaluation including impact related studies
  • Spearhead additional social science projects, educate research staff on development of research plans, allocate research activities and oversee implementation of tasks
  • Create and use methods for measuring and evaluating human behaviour e.g. behaviour measures, questionnaires, assessments using relevant technology
  • Follow emerging social science research and current events to develop more comprehensive understanding of human behaviour and inform further directions of studies to be conducted in relation to the future.
  • Write academic articles detailing the background, development, execution, results and conclusions of studies, and submit at least three articles per year to social science journals
  • Contribute critical knowledge to research proposals development, recommend information and insights to be included and approve final drafts before submission
  • Review studies conducted by other social scientists for errors in reliability, validity and other strength factors relevant for the study
  • Recommend new research, monitoring and evaluation digital tools and methodologies that may improve speed of research delivery.
  • Recommend and adopt research technologies and use digital approaches to data collection, analysis and reporting
  • Develop and review policies that impacts human participation to ensure adherence to POPIA act
Financial

  • Implement and monitor financial control, management of costs and corporate governance in area of specialisation.
