Radiographer x 1 - (Ref Acc-17)

Main purpose of the job:


The incumbent will be responsible for providing mobile X-ray services, including screening and diagnosis of TB, at MatCH supported public health facilities.

Key performance areas

  • Assessing patients and interpreting clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques
  • Performing a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce highquality images
  • Working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise.
Positioning patients safely for examinations and, if necessary, adapting standard techniques depending on medical conditions associated with disability, illness, or trauma

  • Recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act and patient confidentiality
  • Performing necessary administrative tasks, when required
  • Understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionising radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others.
  • Undertaking quality control checks on Xrays and associated equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives
  • Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported
Required minimum education and training


  • National Diploma: Diagnostic Radiography
Minimum Professional body registration

  • Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) registration
Work experience

  • Three years of relevant work experience
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities

  • HIV/TB knowledge and experience will be highly desirable
  • Experience working in a donor funded organization / NGO or projectbased
environment

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Report writing ability
  • Proficiency in English
  • Strong counselling skills.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to handle a varied, busy, and pressurized workload with competing demands on time
  • Selfmotivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability and willingness to travel
