Our client within the FMCG industry is looking for an experienced Quality control manager to join their team.


Requirements:


  • Diploma/Degree in Food Technology/Food Science.
  • Experience in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of food safety management systems.
  • Understand HACCP principles.
  • Familiar with microbiological testing and standards.
  • Managerial skills to ensure the effectiveness of staff.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Advanced skills with MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Firm and strict concerning general compliance in any food safety and quality matters.
  • Ability to implement new systems, procedures, and processes.

Core tasks will include:

  • Quality assurance of Wheat
  • Quality assurance of Products
  • Quality assurance of Operations
  • Laboratory management
  • Assist with the upkeep and management of the Food Safety system
  • Quality Audits
  • General quality management
  • Management of Quality Staff

Breakdown of duties:


  • Manage staff of such a nature that it will be a winwin situation for the employee and the company; give good leadership.
  • Good communication with staff, keeping them informed of company matters and working detail. Thorough feedback to management.
  • Good planning, taking initiative, and creating systems.
  • Recruitment and Training people to do tasks well, crosstraining
  • Performance appraisals
  • Manage leave schedule so that the quality of the product does not suffer
  • Report writing on QArelated issues
  • Complete all quality & food safetyrelated deviations
  • Perform specific internal audits as per management requests and specifications
  • Perform specific external audits (suppliers, customers) as per management requests
  • Perform annual product mock recall exercises
  • Check up and monitor that all regular food safety tasks of different departments are performed within specification and schedule
  • Ensure that the food safety system at our company is adhered to according to schedule, documents and activities i.e training and liaison.
  • Organizing and preparations for thirdparty food safety audits
  • Attend food safety team meetings
  • Be familiar with production flow process and hazard analysis (HACCP)
  • Ensure the fumigation schedule is kept up to date
  • Perform and/ or arrange regular maintenance on all laboratory equipment as per schedule
  • Perform and/or organize that all calibration of laboratory equipment will happen as per schedule
  • Ensure that the laboratory and all the equipment will always be functional in a clean and neat state as per food safety requirements
  • Calibrations and laboratory equipment are to be done on a daily basis
  • Check up on production quality aspects as per management requirements. Must be done thoroughly and sufficiently as per management specifications.
  • Check up on distribution quality aspects as per management requirements. Must be done thoroughly and sufficiently as per management specifications.
  • Assist with inquiries and processing of customer complaints. To be done thoroughly and sufficiently.
  • Ensure that all staff use the correct documentation.
  • Pest control system; monitor and liaise with pest control company.
  • Assist with food safety standards to all deviations as operations request.
  • Client questionnaires are to be completed as required by the client.
  • Assist clients with relevant quality and food safety queries through relevant communications channels.
  • Be familiar with the complete production process as well as the production sampling process.
  • Daily testing and reporting of flour done correctly according to standards, 4005 Laboratory Daily Flour and Wheat Samples.
  • C.O.A testing and compilation according to standards and customer requirements, 3010 Certificate of Analysis, 1025 Certificate of Analysis procedure
  • Monitor, control, and followup performance of nonconformance issues, 4012 Product Non-Conformance Log
  • Revise and update product documents timeously when needed.
  • Assist and oversee all microbiological testing to be done as required.
  • Assist and oversee all daily testing of daily samples to be recorded daily.
  • Assist and oversee all daily wheat intake, wheat management, and hectolitre to be updated as required.
  • Daily Final Product Release Certificate 4022 done correctly according to standards.
  • Analyse and interpret all lab results and tests to gain the necessary information to make reasonable decisions.
  • Be familiar with all Product Specifications along with the relevant parameters of each product.
  • Assist and oversee all wheat intake testing according to the correct standards, 4021 Wheat Acceptance and 1001 Wheat intake Procedure
  • Oversee for correct sampling according to standards, 3001 Wheat Sampling.
  • Confirmation of wheat supplier quality certificates. Must be done correctly for every parameter.
  • Approval/Rejection of incoming Wheat loads.
Performing any other task as discussed and agreed upon with management
