Description
An exciting position is available for a Software Technician, within the engineering / mining industry. The position is based in Centurion, Gauteng.


Requirements:


  • Diploma in software development or similar
  • 35 years' experience in a similar role
  • C, C++, Linux, QT Graphic Process


  • Problem solving skills

  • Identifying problems and opportunities and choose an appropriate course of action.


  • Strong communications skills

  • Communicating with enthusiasm and professionalism that inspires others


  • Accountable

  • Taking responsibility and driving task until it is done


  • Strong analytical skills

  • Working on an integrated level with complex components/systems
  • Must have excellent attention to detail
  • Must be able to work independently and take full ownership of role
  • Able to work in Industrial/undergound mining environment
  • Medically fit and willing to work underground if and when necessary
  • Travel to sites to perform duties

Responsibilities:


  • Establish, configure, document and test hardware and software prototypes and maintain all current products
  • Build, troubleshoot and test prototype assemblies and document suitably
  • Support engineers for testing prototype systems and prereleased software
  • Establish, configure and test hardware and software products
  • Conduct specified test cases and document results
  • Test and analyze newly developed products to ensure operation and reliability
  • Assemble and disassemble test configurations
  • Study new technologies and procedures to update on industry standards and new products
  • Evaluate new and updated products
  • Validate new hardware, operating systems and support software
  • Diagnose prototype design flaws and suggest resolution with development engineers
  • Guide and delegate tasks to lower level technicians
  • Audit and test software and device products as per test plans and procedures
  • Perform maintenance on all production products
