Our client in the Retail industry, based in Rustenburg area, is currently looking to employ an Employee Relations Officer.

Requirements:

years' experience within an industrial/ employee relations specialist role.
years' experience within a unionised environment.

experience is retail business and understanding of the sectoral determination act 9, applicable to the Wholesale and Retail sector.


  • Have a strong employee relations focus, proven knowledge of South African labour legislation.
  • Degree in HR/ Labour Law or equivalent (NQF 8) will be advantageous.
  • Have their own car that is reliable as well as possess a driver's license.
  • Willing to be based at the regional office and travel to stores allocated.
  • Willing to work retail trade hours aligned to the business needs, which includes Saturday work and some public holidays.
  • CCMA Experience advantageous, testifying on behalf of the employer.
  • Dispute resolution experience advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience managing employees, preferably in logistics environments / retail related functions.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate, persuade, sell, and resolve conflicts.
  • Experience in our Industry (Wholesale and Retail) in a client centric approach and skills with a sense of urgency.
  • Wellspoken in English and the following languages will be advantageous: Afrikaans / African Language from the area.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to negotiate, persuade, sell, and resolve conflicts.
  • Strong attention to detail especially in reports.

Responsibilities:


  • Support and guide management and business in the retail sector on industrial and employee relations matters to support strategic and operational decision making.
  • Manage employee performance and attendance.
  • Engage with union stakeholders to facilitate a functional and mutually beneficial relationship. Manage and control all disciplinary matters up to the hearings and issuing of warnings at store level.
  • Persuading and Influencing management with confidence and reference to the law.
  • Presenting and Communicating Information.
