Description

Ensures that construction needs of the Church are identified and included in the Area Physical Facilities Master Plan so that facilities can be constructed as required.


  • Prepares the design and construction portions of the area annual plan with proposed sequence, schedules and costs targets.
  • Ensures that the best contractors and skilled laborers are selected.
  • Ensures that department operations are conducted in an effective and efficient manner so that the utilization of Church funds sets project costs and cycle time targets by type of standard plans and by general market locations.
  • Ensures that all project costs are accurately identified and charged to the correct budget account and administers a complete cost control system.
  • Ensures that design consultants, contractors and other service providers are prequalified to perform contracted work.
  • Ensures that all contracts are entered into according to prevailing laws and that they properly and thoroughly protect the interests of the Church.
  • Ensures through Project Managers that all architectural planning is done in a professional manner and according to the requirements of local cities and government units, while maintaining the type of plan and building arrangements which have been approved under Church policy.
  • Participates in facility design reviews to propose value engineering improvements to reduce costs and cycle time and improve functionality.
  • Provides relevant annual plan performance reports to leaders.
  • Must hold a current / valid Temple recommend and/or be worthy to possess one.
  • B.A. Degree in Construction Technology, Civil Engineering, Project Management or related field and at least 7 years supervisory/management experience in the construction industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to properly ensure high quality construction of major projects including cost control gained through personal broad experience in the construction industry.
  • Ability to train subordinates and contracted professionals in Church policies and procedures.
  • Must also be able to set priorities, plan and organize work.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills for interacting with ecclesiastical leaders, headquarters personnel, DTA and others.
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to relate with contractors and professionals as well as priesthood leaders.
