Driver / Stand-In General Packer, Cape Town

Our company, an established FMCG Company based in Northgate Estate Business Park, Ysterplaat is looking for a trustworthy & experienced Driver/Stand-In General Packer.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Loading, transporting, and delivering items to clients or businesses in a safe, timely manner.
• Reviewing orders before and after delivery to ensure that orders are complete, the charges are correct, and the customer is satisfied.
• Assisting with loading and offloading items from vehicles.
• Accepting payments for delivered items.
• Providing excellent customer service, answering questions, and handling complaints from clients.
• Adhering to assigned routes and following time schedules.
• Abiding by all transportation laws and maintaining a safe driving record.
• Preparing reports and other documents relating to deliveries.
• Ensuring the correct documentation is produced.
• Operating equipment and machines, such as cars, trucks, forklifts, etc.
• Scheduling vehicles for services as needed.
• Maintaining vehicles in a clean and safe state in line with company policy.
• Ensuring adherence to R638 regulation for food handlers.
• Performing the function of a General Packer if needed
• Mark and label containers, container tags, or products, using marking tools.
• Measuring, weighing, and countingproducts and materials.
• Examiningand inspecting containers, materials, and products in order to ensure that packing specifications are met.
• Recordingproduct, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records.
• Removing completed or defective products or materials.
• Sealing containers or materials, using glues, fasteners, nails, and hand tools.
• Cleaning containers, materials, supplies, or work areas, using cleaning solutions and hand tools.
• Assisting with any additional adhoc duties when required.

Qualifying Criteria

• Grade 12 Certificate
• Code 10 driver's license & PDP
• Minimum of 35 years of experience as a Driver
• Good knowledge of Cape Town and surroundings
• Experience in FMCG/Food environment advantageous
• Forklift license would be advantageous
• Solid understanding of health and safety regulations
• Must be computer literate in MS Office; Excel, Word, and Outlook (Pastel/Syspro will be advantageous/Pivot tables and V-Look Ups)
• Basic math and recording abilities
• Accuracy and attention to detail essential
• Good professional written & verbal communication skills in English
• Excellent organizational skills
• Keen eye for detail
• Good physical condition
• Ability to deliver faultless work
• Excellent communication, problem solving & time management skills
• Quality, safety & results focussed.

The role may involve shift work and unsocial hours to make sure there's cover throughout the production process. Extended hours may be required to meet deadlines or to introduce new systems. You could be on call at weekends or public holidays to deal with problems.
