Our company, an established FMCG Company based in Northgate Estate Business Park, Ysterplaat is looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to manage the company's supply of products and services.


Key Responsibilities:
To manage the company's supply of products and services

Inventory Planning

To build relationships with suppliers


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Source products, obtain quotations and place orders with international and local suppliers in accordance with company requirements.
  • Identify suitable suppliers/vendors based on company needs.
  • Build good supplier relationships.
  • Liaise with new and existing suppliers (SLAs/cost effective/alternative products).
  • Negotiate and agree the most favourable terms possible with suppliers.
  • Price negotiations.
  • Track and ensure on time delivery of goods.
  • Monitor stock levels.
  • Capture all local and international orders and ensure that the administration of Purchase Order (PO) process is completed accurately in accordance with agreed terms and conditions.
  • Obtain signed PO confirmation and acceptance after PO placement.
  • Receive and manage incoming orders.
  • Expedite delivery of goods until final acceptance.
  • Expedite late deliveries and resolve causes of late deliveries.
  • Complete Return to Supplier process and documentation.
  • Review, compare, analyse, and approve products and services to be purchased.
  • Follow and enforce the company's procurement policies and procedures.
  • Enquire and manage raw product supply from relevant suppliers.
  • Internal Supply Chain Management.
  • Optimize the supply of raw materials.
  • Compile and maintain the database of approved suppliers in accordance with company requirements.
  • Manage B-BBEE certifications of suppliers and record keeping.
  • Compile required B-BBEE documentation and submission thereof.
  • Generate weekly and monthly replenishment reports.
  • Review MRP (Material Requirement Planning) and place orders for products according to set targets.
  • Plan inventory based on sales forecasts ensuring optimal stock levels.
  • Process, capture and follow up on all orders.
  • Develop procurement plans appropriate to assigned products and services.
  • Liaise with the accounts department regarding supplier account queries.
  • Develop material cost forecasts or standard cost lists.
  • Assist with stock take capturing.
  • Identify gaps in Supply Chain Management.
  • Implement new or improved supply chain processes.
  • Work in conjunction with other relevant departments to cocreate the supply chain strategy.
  • Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other functional areas, such as sales, marketing, finance, production, or quality assurance.
  • Manage the creation and delivery of both the shortterm and longerterm business supply plans.
  • Establish a forward demand plan and ensure that there is a forward supply plan, to determine where capacity constraints exist.
  • Be involved with new product/range launches.
  • Request amendments of artwork (if needed) and liaise with printers.
  • Assisting with any additional adhoc and miscellaneous duties, project duties or company events when required and as prescribed by Management.

Qualifying Criteria

  • National Senior Certificate
  • Qualification in supply chain/procurement
  • Minimum of 23 year's FMCG environment experience in a similar position
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience as a Procurement Manager or in a similar position
  • Understanding of import and export requirements
  • Knowledge and understanding of the FMCG environment
  • Must be computer literate in MS Office; Excel, Word, and Outlook (Pastel/Syspro will be advantageous/Pivot tables and V-Look Ups)
  • Own car and driver's license

The role may involve shift work and unsocial hours to make sure there's cover throughout the production process. Extended hours may be required to meet deadlines or to introduce new systems. You could be on call at weekends or public holidays to deal with problems.
