Minimum requirements for the role:

Must have an M.Sc Degree specializing in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics
Previous experience in molecular marker development and design within the vegetable production industry will be required
Experience with Python and R Studio is essential
Must be able to deal with deadlines and handle a large volume of samples and data sets
The ability to communicate in a multicultural context with good level of English, both written and spoken are important for this role
Good organizational and time management skills and the ability to work at a steady pace according to seasonal peaks are essential
Must have a valid drivers license with own transport
Developing and designing molecular markers with the key emphasis to provide bioinformatic support to the research laboratory.
Preparing and presenting results and reports to the Head of Research Laboratories EMEA.
Performing and managing molecular laboratory functions, such as PCR, RE digestion and qPCR.
Performing DNA extractions to genotype vegetable plants to facilitate crop breeding.
Overseeing diagnostic work by RT-PCR and ELISA, to assist with pathogen detection in plant samples.
Ensuring adherence to GLP, GMP and relevant company protocols.
