Trust Interest Portfolio Officer to join their team based in Cape Town.

Requirements:


  • A commercial or legal related degree is essential
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience of business development in the financial and/or legal industries is essential
  • An indepth knowledge of banking products used in the legal practitioners' environment is essential


  • Computer literacy

  • Microsoft Office is essential
  • Having a valid Code 8 driver's licence is essential

Responsibilities:


REVENUE

Trust Interest Revenue Maximisation:
Section 86 (2), (3) and (4)

  • Using management information systems to identify revenue maximising opportunities
  • Tracking and monitoring trust interest performance of each practice in the region in respect of trust interest income received and bank charges incurred by legal practitioners
  • Tracking the utilisation of section 86(3) accounts to maximise trust interest revenue for the company and growing same to a set target.
  • Analysing and reviewing the section 86(2), 86(3) and 86(4) monthly trust interest receipts and bank charges
  • Assisting practitioners' queries for noncompliance with section 86(2) and section 86(4)
  • Making sound recommendations to improve the trust interest value chain
  • Maintaining a database of value generated from interventions
  • Remedying instances of noncompliance with preferential banking products
  • Articulating and promoting benefits of trust interest maximisation to practitioners
  • Marketing the activities of the company to the legal profession
  • Building sustainable relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Responding to trust account queries timeously
Automated Monthly Transfer System (AMTS)

  • Facilitating and monitoring the migration of accounts to and from the AMTS environment within the region
  • Increasing the participation of practitioners in the AMTS environment in the region
  • Keeping a query tracking register for AMTS interventions
  • Consolidating and monitoring the number of accounts, average balances, gross interest, and bank charges of legal practitioners and reporting on trends
Unidentifiable/ Unclaimed Trust Money

  • Assisting practitioners' queries of noncompliance with section 87(4)
  • Tracking the receipts of unclaimed trust monies.

CUSTOMER AND/OR STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
Customer satisfaction

  • Building and establishing complementary partnerships with legal practitioners, regional banks, The LPC Provincial Councils and other relevant stakeholders
  • Engaging with the Top trust interest revenue contributors in the region
  • Providing a link between auditors and legal practitioners and resolving issues that emerge from stakeholder engagements (The LPC, SAICA, IRBA, the LSSA and legal practitioners)
  • Responding to queries relating to section 86(2) and section 86(3) trust accounts and keeping a query tracking register
  • Responding to queries relating to section 86(4) trust investment accounts and section 86(5)(b) new revenue stream and keeping a query tracking register
  • Demonstrating value created as a result of TIPO interventions

ADMINISTRATION & REPORTING
General administration and process

  • Participating in the improvement of the trust interest value chain
  • Identifying and mitigating emerging risks in the trust interest environment
  • Identifying emerging trends from the field of work
  • Providing input to the Joint Legal Practitioners and Accountants Committee and established task groups (e.g., the IRBA Legal Practitioners Trust accounts task group)
  • Demonstrating value created because of interventions in the trust interest value chain
  • Investment Executive key project reporting

Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent


Salary:
R480 000,00 - R500 000,00 per year
