Our Renewable Energy Client is searching for a Head of Sustainability based in Johannesburg.



JOB PURPOSE:


The world is facing crucial challenges in sustainability and decarbonization. Our client is in need of a skilled leader to head their Sustainability Department. The ideal candidate should have a strong passion for mitigating climate change and guiding clients in developing effective sustainability and decarbonization strategies.



EDUCATION and REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Environmental Science or related field (essential).
  • Post graduate qualifications/certifications relevant to the role.
  • Minimum 6 - 8 years of relevant experience (essential), preferably in a consulting environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability strategies and software tools.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Lead the development of the Sustainability Business Unit focusing on strategy and identifying new opportunities aligned with annual targets.
  • Develop and execute carbon neutral strategies, policies, and implementation plans utilizing a Sustainability Journey Map approach.
  • Establish key metrics for client performance tracking and reporting.
  • Oversee carbon tax accounting and Greenhouse Gas reporting for clients.
  • Provide expertise in client Annual Reports ensuring compliance with standards and best practices.
  • Keep updated on Sustainability regulations, best practices, and communicate effectively within the organization.
  • Represent the company in forums, workshops, and conferences on Sustainability-related topics.


Remuneration


R60,000 - R80,000/month



Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: R60,000.00 - R80,000.00 per month
