Description:


Our Durban client has an opportunity for a Maintenance Planner to oversee the operation of the computerized system, including the maintenance of asset history records and plant inventory.

Oversee the operation of the stores department to ensure that adequate consumable spares and strategic spares are available.


Maintenance Planning

  • Record work orders to the K2 computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ensure that all information on the job cards are recorded and captured.
  • Ensure job cards are returned and recorded within five working days of issuing date.
  • Report the history of open and outstanding job cards.
  • Arrange regular meetings with maintenance and operations foreman plan different maintenance and adhoc tasks to be carried out on shutdown of plants.
  • Draw up planned maintenance bar charts for oneday, twoday three day, four day and fiveday shutdown schedules with the job cards jobcards incorporated with the bar charts.
  • Plan in conjunction with the Maintenance Foremen, the required maintenance materials and equipment required for the planned shutdowns of plants.
  • Arrange the ordering of materials and equipment to be available on the day of the planned shutdowns.
  • Prepare and secure resources for the work to be done (spare parts, special equipment, contractors)

Work order management

  • Create a prioritized and coded list of work orders
  • Verify work requests
  • PMs from CMMS (K2)
  • Follow up on works orders that are outstanding
  • Prioritise or code work order
  • Ensure that all operations are populated on all workorders as per scoping from Foreman

Scope and large work maintenance work

  • Scope of work development
  • Estimate complexity, risk or duration
  • Identify resources required

Schedule work with Maintenance and Production/Operations

  • Prioritize/group work
  • Confirm resource capacity
  • Confirm shipping plan slots and equipment availability

Master Data Control

  • Custodian of the plant numbering process
  • Creation and deletion of functional locations
  • Asset register control
  • Bill of Material (BOM) administration on K
  • Update standard task details, frequency, resources, duration

Shut Down Planning

  • Scope of work development
  • Review of work orders on K2 that fall on the shutdown period to plan them
  • Schedule with critical path
  • Resource levelling
  • Updating the shut down plan

Compliance

  • Decompose reports from SME into action plans
  • Manage statutory inspection records

Create reports (Ad hoc and planned)

  • Adhoc reports for management queries
  • Reports on maintenance metrics
  • Preparation for audits
  • Input into RCAs

Procurement

  • Generation of PRs and suborders for rotable equipment sent for external repairs
  • Responsible for procurement of spares and services for maintenance
  • Compilation of single documents when there are only 3 vendors

Meetings

  • Lead and run daily maintenance MDT meetings
  • Lead and run weekly planning and scheduling meetings
  • Lead and run shutdown meetings
  • Distribute meetings to all parties
Desired Experience & Qualification


Minimum criteria:


  • Diploma in Engineering N6/S4/Diploma
  • 5 years in an Industrial Maintenance Planning / Management position
  • Experience in the mining industry advantageous
  • Experience in Bulk Minerals or Solids Handling Facility/Terminal Operations advantageous
  • Ability to plan, organise, prioritise and multitask at a technical and management level
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Good planning and organising skills
  • High levels of integrity and confidentiality

  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
