- Understand and translate the vision of the product (system) and its roadmap into a product backlog with prioritised and detailed user stories.
- Explaining and ensuring that the team understands the "Why" of all work they are doing.
- Convert Business Requirements into sizable user stories: write well-formed user stories with clear goals and acceptance criteria to refine with the team.
- Maintain the product backlog and adherence to task prioritisation and ultimately responsible for the delivery of tasks.
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, definitions of 'done' & agile ceremonies (sprint retros / demos / etc.).
- Coordinate query resolution and requirements clarifications between customers and the development team.
- Collaborate with Senior Product Manager and Program Manager to manage ad hoc requests and protect the efficiency of team delivery.
- Together with the scrum master ensure that if the team is dependent on any other teams for their delivery, that the dependency is tracked and managed properly.
- Manage the delivery of user stories through the complete project lifecycle from inception to deployment, ensuring that delivery meets business and technical requirements and is within agreed timelines. Sign off on stories as completed.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with management, ensuring regular engagement in terms of understanding the business need, building shared understanding of the solution, and providing status updates to achieve successful outcomes.
- Monitor and drive progress through team meetings, agile ceremonies, and report status proactively to the business.
- Execute strategy, highlight gaps in resourcing, capacity and performance (have a clear understanding and effective management of team velocity).
- Record and log key product decisions, rationale and risks.
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc(Eng)) / Bachelors of Engineering (BEng): NQF Level 8
- Prior experience working as a manager in a software environment (preferably as a product owner / scrum master / delivery manager / project manager) will be an added advantage.
- Additional certifications such as Certified Product Owner and/or Scrum Master course.
- Experience in Jira.
- 3 – 5 years' relevant working experience
- Excellent planning, prioritisation and communication skills - both verbal and written.
- Sound understanding of business processes and product constructs.
- Strong leader, able to bring people from different disciplines, cultures and working styles towards consensus.
- Strong managerial skills, the ability to make decisions, deal with conflict and manage different personalities.
- A self-organized and driven individual who can deal with multiple ongoing projects at any point in time.
- Must have a strong orientation towards continuous learning
