Duties/Pligte
- Engaging with senior levels of leadership through clear communication, appropriate levels of context and explanation through visual and data representations when needed, influencing decisions and direction of strategy, and bridging the gap between business speak and tech speak;
- Leading a data and analytics team;
- Assessing data and analytics industry and technology trends and direction by providing guidance on how it will impact institutional opportunities, as well as risks;
- Developing data architecture strategies for the institutional data domain based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations;
- Accounting for project challenges with regard to constraints, including risks, time, resources, and scope;
- Planning and participating in the execution of data migration plans to move data from on-premises data to the cloud or other solutions;
- Envisioning and creating solutions which meet the University's data and analytical requirements;
- Creating and maintaining current and target state data architectures;
- Designing layered architecture where institutional users can interact with the data warehouse or other sources of data;
- Leading the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex data systems and solutions;
- Establishing standards, processes and tools for data strategy, data life cycle, data ownership, data definition and data classification for use across the University;
- Defining, establishing and monitoring a process to resolve cross-organisational data management issues;
- Establishing or supporting processes and tools for data management practices, e.g., metadata management, data quality management, master data management, data security and data integration;
- Collaborating with IT teams, business analysts, and data analytics teams to understand and develop solutions for data consumer needs;
- Assisting with the design and development of an enterprise data warehouse and big data architecture to address the University's needs;
- Developing enterprise data management methodology and standards, and promoting it to both technology and business users throughout the University;
- Participating in a data governance process to ensure that standards are followed by the team. Advising data governance to make informative data decisions and formulate applicable data management policies;
- Managing and motivating a virtual team of data technicians, business users and data stewards.

- Vorm en onderhou die huidige en beplande, toekomstige data-argitektuur;
- Ontwerp veelvlakkige argitektuur vir institusionele gebruikers waar hulle met die data warehouse en ander databronne kan werk;
- Lei die ontwerp, ontwikkeling, implementering en onderhoud van komplekse datastelsels en -oplossings;
- Vestig standaarde, prosesse en hulpmiddels vir datastrategie, datalewensiklus, data-eienaarskap, datadefinisie en dataklassifikasie wat deur die hele Universiteit gebruik kan word;
- Definieer, vestig en monitor 'n proses om kruis-organisatoriese databestuurprobleme op te los;
- Vestig of ondersteun prosesse en ¿hulpmiddels vir databestuurspraktyke, bv., metadata-bestuur, die bestuur van data-kwaliteit, die bestuur van hoofdata, datasekuriteit en data-integrasie;
- Samewerking met IT-spanne, besigheidsanaliste en data-analise spanne om oplossings vir datagebruikers se behoeftes te verstaan en ontwikkel;
- Bied steun met die ontwerp en ontwikkeling van 'n enterprise data warehouse en big data-argitektuur om sodoende die Universiteit se behoeftes aan te spreek;
- Ontwikkel enterprise data management metodologieë en standaarde, en bevorder beide tegnologie
- en besigheidsgebruikers binne die Universiteit;
- Neem deel aan 'n data governance-proses om te verseker dat standaarde deur die span gevolg word;
- Adviseer data governance sodat informatiewe databesluite geneem kan word en toepaslike databestuurbeleide geformuleer kan word;
