I successfully guided a team of teachers in implementing innovative teaching strategies, enhancing student engagement and learning outcomes. I spearheaded the adoption of a new curriculum that meets educational standards and caters to diverse learning needs. Education
Studying for a Higher Diploma in Education (HDE) at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in conjunction with the Cape Technikon typically involves a rigorous curriculum designed to equip me with advanced pedagogical skills and knowledge. It is an in-depth study of educational theories, practices, and policies. Some of my courses covered areas such as curriculum development, assessment strategies, and educational psychology. It allowed the option to specialize in specific areas, such as inclusive education, language education, or science education. A significant portion of the program included teaching practice in schools (I conducted mine at Bergvliet High School) allowing me to apply my theoretical knowledge in real classroom settings. Many programs also required a research component, where I had to conduct a study related to my area of interest in education, culminating in projects or a thesis or dissertation. My studies prepared me for leadership roles in education, with enhanced skills in teaching, curriculum design, and further educational leadership.
