Unathi Ntusi

Hi there, Unathi here in Johannesburg, South Africa. 

I have 22 years work experience in fields ranging from media, management consulting to programme and portfolio management. The bulk of my  experience has been in the tech industry where I have delivered pioneering projects in both the private and the public sector. Among projects and programs successfully delivered have been project turnaround initiatives, software development, infrastructure deployment, digital transformation initiatives as well as turnaround strategy executions. These have been delivered using the waterfall approach, agile and hybrid approaches as well. 

At Siemens IT Solutions, I was a Snr. Project Manager responsible for the logistics component of an IT modernisation project, successfully oversaw the transition, governance and audit preparation for an IT Outsource PPP contract exit. In the course of the work done here, I gained experience in Transition project management and became a specialist Transition project manager. In the four year period spent at EOH, I led the project to rollout the Smart ID Card for the Department of Home Affairs, in replacement of the green barcoded ID. For this project, I defined the governance processes for the rollout and through that, the project maintained a clean project audit for both the four year period I was at the helm and beyond that. 

At Anglo American I was a portfolio manager for a SmartMining initiative to digitise the mining environment at Kumba Iron Ore, SA Coal and Implats. This was unchartered territory in the South African mining environment at the time and in many ways, was a trailblazing project. A few years prior to this, I had joined the team at Diebold Nixdorf for the upgrade of the Standard Bank and Capitec ATM infrastructure and this covered a real estate in excess of 6000 ATM countrywide. This was the biggest ATM upgrade ever undertaken on the continent at the time. Here too, I led the team to a successful delivery, within budget and within the allocated timelines. Most importantly, due to the governance and control measures put in place, this was done with clean audit outcomes and no security issues recorded. 

In the course of my work, I have established PMOs, defined and implemented matrix working structures, rolled out SAP and SAGE ERP Solutions and also defined and implemented business strategy using the balanced scorecard methodology. These are but a few of the initiatives and experience gained over the years. 

Whilst busy with all these, additional to a qualification in Financial  Information Systems, I have obtained an MBA in Digital Business, PMP Certification and am currently business with a strategy execution certificate with the Harvard Business School.
