mentoring, coaching, training, and providing expert advice and support.
• Develop project-specific Health and Safety Specifications and Baseline
Risk Assessments for the tender phase.
• Prepare legal appointments and agreements for Principal Contractors
on assigned project sites.
Compliance Management
• Ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, relevant
legislation, and regulations within the Infrastructure Delivery Unit.
• Conduct audits and issue reports on SHEQ non-compliance, including
follow-up on non-conformance resolutions.
• Maintain detailed and accurate SHEQ records, ensuring proper
documentation within the management system.
Risk Management
• Identify and address emerging risks on construction projects, formulating
risk control strategies with project teams.
• Implement and maintain SHEQ strategies, policies, and procedures.
Reporting
• Compile monthly SHEQ reports for all allocated programs.
• Consolidate quarterly SHEQ reports for presentation to the Executive
Committee and SEC Board.
Project Management
• Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of
construction projects.
• Ensure construction projects align with OHS Act (Act 85 of 1993), SHEQ
policies, and internal processes.
• Collaborate with engineers and program managers to mitigate hazardous
conditions or equipment risks on sites.
• Conduct inspections to ensure workplace environments, equipment, and
practices comply with safety standards.
Compliance and Reporting Obligations
• Perform monthly and quarterly audits, ensuring completion of SHEQ
action plans.
LeadershipMentor and coach stakeholders to foster a culture of continuous learning and
SHEQ awareness.
• Promote accountability for safety, health, environmental, and quality
compliance among staff and stakeholders.
• Encourage proactive hazard and incident reporting to manage SHEQ risks
effectively.
SHEQ Management System
• Support the implementation and maintenance of ISO 45001, 31000, 14000,
and 9000 systems.
Quality Management
• Advocate for best practices in service delivery, aligned with quality standards
and community engagement.
• Ensure compliance with documentation and processes that uphold
organisational quality improvement.
Financial Management Functions
• Oversee the implementation of the SHEQ budget.
