Themba Marivate

Themba is a dynamic and versatile Analyst Programmer specialist – a COBOL System Developer. He has more than 18 years’ extensive experience in Mainframe Programming in particular Building / Developing Mainframe Applications in COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL and DB2 programming technologies, to mention a few. His career journey within JSE listed companies such as the NEDBANK Group, ABSA Group, Accenture SA, the JSE and EOH has seen him gain diverse and unique insights into the fast changing IT environment.

Themba is a hard worker, good listener, and persistent where he sees through the project from start to finish providing regular feedback to his Line Manager through the Agile standup meetings.

Themba also has extensive experience in areas of Development, Maintenance & Production Support, Callout and Standby 24/7. He also has extensive knowledge and skills with regard to, Testing (Unit, System, Integration and UAT), Technical (Impact) systems analysis, Technical Documentation, understanding of full SDLC, Understanding of Agile Methodology, Implementation of (Programs, Sub-Systems and System), Quality Assurance.  Additional experiences involve 17 years with VSAM, SQL, JCL, TSO, MVS, ROSCOE, ELIPSE, VC4U, IDEAL-DATACOM and EZTRIEVE. He also has 5 years’ HOGAN Programming and Visual Basic .Net experience.

Themba's programming career started at University while he was studying a BSc majoring in Physics and Applied Mathematics where in his final year of Applied Mathematics he had to do a project involving Pascal Programming.

His career as a Mainframe COBOL Developer started at ABSA Bank where he was doing his internship and was introduced and learnt about the Banking Programming environment.

He also did a certificate in “Entry Level COBOL Programming” with TDF Computer  Colledge
