As a dedicated and passionate audiologist with a comprehensive one-year community service experience at a public hospital in Cape Town, I have developed a well-rounded skill set in diagnostic audiology, hearing aid management, and patient-centered care. During my tenure at Groote Schuur Hospital, I provided diagnostic assessments for patients of all ages and all types, including conducting pure-tone audiometry, tympanometry, DPOAEs, and AABRs, particularly for newborns and pediatric cases. I also managed hearing rehabilitation services, performing hearing aid fittings, programming, and offering continuous patient support. My role demanded not only technical expertise but also compassionate counseling—educating patients and their families about hearing health, communication strategies and tinnitus management. Beyond clinical responsibilities, I honed strong administrative and teamwork skills. I coordinated patient schedules, maintained detailed medical records, and ensured compliance with hospital protocols. Actively participating in quarterly team meetings and bi-monthly team-building activities fostered my ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams. My experience in leadership roles during university, including serving as a liaison between students and faculty and organizing essential medical supplies for my class, further developed my organizational and communication skills. These experiences have shaped me into a proactive and adaptable professional who thrives in dynamic healthcare environments.
