About Sonka Tatsi:
My name is Sonka Tatsi. I am a 24-year-old woman who was born and bred in a small town called Ngqeleni in the Eastern Cape. I currently reside in the mother city, Cape Town, where I am pursuing my postgrad studies. I am also looking for a place of employment where I can broaden my skill set.
Experience
My professional experience involves the administrative skills that I gained in my role as an election committee member for the Forest Hill Residence in UCT. I was also able to rake-in conflict resolution skills in my role as a D-block committee member in Forest hill residence as well. This role required me to attend to flat queries and solving disputes with flatmates as well. lastly, as a research assistant, i was able to gain data collection, data analysis, and reporting skills as skills I can put under my professional experience.
Education
I am currently enrolled for an MSc in chemical engineering at the University of Cape Town (UCT). My project is mostly focused on fuel cells which are devices that convert chemical potential energy into electrical energy. My main aim is to ensure the longevity of the catalyst used in such devices ( which are Pt nano-pellets supported in a carbon substrate) by investigating the degradation mechanisms that lead to their premature failure. This body of research encapsulates the use of Pt as one of the main minerals that add value to the South African economy.
