About Sonet Vermaak:
My qualifications include a Matric Certificate, and I am currently in my final year of a BSc Geoinformatics degree. I am computer literate, fully bilingual & I am dedicated to working in the GIS field.
I have been involved in NATHouse (Faculty House for Natural and Agricultural Sciences at the University of Pretoria) since October 2019 where I started as the
Treasurer. In this position I managed a R100 000 budget. For the following term, I was elected as Vice-Chairperson and Academics Officer where I attend to many student queries and manged all the class representatives in the faculty. I also created and oversaw the training of all these class reps. In these positions I learnt excellent time-management and teamwork skills, as well as administration and leadership skills.
I was also a tutor for two subjects at the University. In this position I realized that I loved teaching, presenting, and people. Additionally, I am very eager to learn and found that I enjoyed the different ways in which different students solve problems.
I’m an approachable person that gets along with most people. I am open to ideas and although I like to give my input and opinion, I am a good listener and will always value other opinions and ideas – I believe this makes me a good team player. I am also a leader and work well without constant supervision needed.
