Provide technical support to laboratories and healthcare facilities on TB/HIV related matters. Work in collaboration with the departments of health and district supporting partners to ensure quality testing and reporting.

My work experience includes working as a medical technologist specialising in clinical pathology. I worked at Lancet laboratories in clinical pathology laboratories as a medical technologist, acting laboratory manager and a part-time quality assurance assessor. As a medical technologist, I worked in the microbiology, chemistry and haematology (including oncology) departments and also had exposure of working in the immunology department performing immunoassays for allergy testing. As a part-time quality assurance assessor, I was responsible for conducting laboratory audits according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025 and ISO 15189 standards, and supported the implementation of quality management systems across Lancet laboratories.  

I have worked at the National Priority Programme of the National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) as a GeneXpert project trainer and was involved in the implementation of the GeneXpert Xpert MTB/RIF assays across South Africa. Additionally, I provided training and technical support to NHLS laboratories on the GeneXpert systems and assisting laboratories with verifications and external quality assurance. 

In public health, I have experience in implementation of the mHealth solution across various districts in South Africa. Furthermore, I have worked as clinical laboratory interface advisor for the HIV viral load Programme at the Wits Health Consortium providing support to PEPFAR facilities to ensure quality viral load testing.
