About Sandhika Dulu:

My teaching philosophy centers on fostering a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, and a passion for lifelong learning. During my 23 years of experience as an educator, I have developed a comprehensive set of pedagogical tools and techniques that enable me to connect with students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles. My background in Geography and Science equips me with a strong foundation, which I am eager to share with the students at UKZN.

I am particularly drawn to UKZN because of its unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research innovation, and community engagement. The institution's dedication to interdisciplinary studies and community outreach resonates with my own values and teaching philosophy. I am excited about the opportunity to be part of the vibrant academic community.

Experience

I am a highly accomplished educator with 23 years of dedicated teaching experience. My journey in education began with a Bachelor of Education (B.Paed) degree, followed by a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours degree in Geography and Tourism, and culminated in the attainment of a Master of Science (MSc) degree. Over the course of my career, I have consistently demonstrated a passion for teaching and a commitment to academic excellence.

During my tenure as an educator, I have had the privilege of teaching diverse student populations across various academic levels. My roles have encompassed being a tutor, primary school teacher and high school teacher, where I have consistently delivered high-quality instruction, fostering critical thinking, independent learning, and a deep appreciation for the subject matter.

My teaching philosophy centers on creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment, where students are encouraged to explore, question, and develop a lifelong love of learning. I have a proven track record of attaining a 100% pass rate in both Tourism and Geography in the Grade 12 NSC exam since 2001.  I have significantly contributed to the academic growth of my students.

As I transition into the realm of higher education, I am excited about the prospect of sharing my wealth of knowledge and experience with the university community. My academic journey, combined with my extensive teaching experience, positions me well to contribute to the academic excellence upheld by UKZN. I am eager to collaborate with fellow educators, engage in research endeavors, and empower the next generation of scholars.

Education

I bring over two decades of dedicated teaching experience to the role, supported by a strong educational background. With a Bachelor of Education (B.Paed) degree, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Honours degree, and a Master of Science (MSc) degree, my academic foundation is robust and well-rounded.

My professional journey has been primarily shaped by my role as a high school teacher. In this capacity, I have consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to student learning and academic excellence. My responsibilities have encompassed curriculum development, mentoring students, research projects and teaching methodologies through Professional development workshops over the years.

Throughout my career, I have honed my skills in creating engaging and inclusive learning environments that promote critical thinking and foster a passion for lifelong learning. My teaching philosophy revolves around student-centered learning and interdisciplinary perspectives and I have consistently received positive feedback from both students and colleagues for my innovative teaching methods.

My qualifications and teaching experience uniquely position me to excel in a lecturing role at UKZN. I am eager to share my expertise with students, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to the university's academic mission. My passion for teaching, combined with my educational background, equips me to make a meaningful impact in the classroom and beyond.
