Professor Gabriel Kabanda, D.Sc., Ph.D., M.Sc., B.Sc., is an internationally acclaimed scholar, Full Professor of Computer Science/AI/ Machine Learning/ Big Data Analytics, and visionary leader whose academic and professional trajectory spans over 38 years. Currently Head of Doctoral Programmes at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Graduate School of Business and Leadership, he has previously served as Pro Vice-Chancellor at Zimbabwe Open University and Professor of Applied Business Informatics at the University of Zimbabwe.
His scholarly footprint is extensive, comprising more than 150 peer-reviewed publications, 100 international conference presentations, and the successful supervision of over 20 doctoral theses. Professor Kabanda’s research portfolio encompasses Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Big Data Analytics, and Educational Technology, with seminal contributions to reinforcement learning, Bayesian networks, and metaverse-driven architectures. His expertise extends to global leadership studies as a Certified Resilience Researcher and Country Co-Investigator for Zambia and Zimbabwe in the GLOBE 2020 Project.
