I largely have a Molecular Biology background but I've recently graduated with an Adv Diploma in Cosmetic Formulation Science. I am eager to utilise my array of laboratory skills and experience within the R&D industry to make my mark in the cosmetic industry. I have a year experience in a cosmetic R&D laboratory and am looking forward to learn even more about cosmetic formulation and the R&D pipeline. 

Stability Chemist (Environ Skin Care)

• Regularly performed stability testing and sensory evaluation of cosmetic products in a cGMP accredited laboratory (ISO 9001 & ISO 22716).
• Interpreted testing results and wrote & reviewed the R&D reports.
• Trained new staff to use laboratory equipment.
• Performed administrative tasks related to stability testing
• Assisted with generating monthly stability meetings.

R&D Intern (Environ Skin Care)

• Regularly performed stability testing and sensory evaluation of cosmetic products in a cGMP accredited laboratory (ISO 9001 & ISO 22716).
• Interpreted stability results to report in the monthly stability meeting.
• Generated forms related to product development testing.
• Formulated and created a novel cosmetic product with no guide formulation.
• Assisted chemists with manufacturing prototype batches and researching new ingredients.
• Performed daily verification of laboratory equipment (including viscometer, pH meter, conductivity meter & spectrophotometer).

Advanced Diploma in Cosmetic Formulation Science (UCT)

Received both theoretical and practical exposure to various facets of the cosmetic formulation industry. This includes Cosmetic Claims & Regulations, Hair and Skin Biology, and Cosmetic Formulation technology. I received hands-on experience in formulating a vast variety of both hair and skin products and analysed them to ensure product stability. The effect of cosmetic products was then further analysed using molecular techniques such as a cell viability assay, protein assay, and tensile testing.
