Marco Jacobs

I believe storytelling is the foundation of civilisation that shapes our cultures and societies. My involvement in numerous student and independent film and media productions over the past four years has exposed me to various aspects of filmmaking and content creation. This experience has sharpened my ability to work effectively under pressure, collaborate across departments, and think creatively and logistically to overcome challenges.

Currently, I am working as a creative director and production assistant for GiLo Lifestyle's social media advertisements. I work alongside the marketing manager to conceptualise concepts that visually present the brand's environmental ethics through researched trends. During production, I work as the behind-the-scenes videographer and photographer.

Previously, I have directed two short films that have been selected for festival distribution and made it to the finals at international film festivals. I also produced two music videos and two short films. 

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Cape Town, specialising in film and media production with distinction. Additionally, I earned my honours degree at AFDA in motion picture medium, also graduating with distinction.
