My name is Mandla Vange, I have a National Diploma in Forestry obtained at Nelson Mandela University (Sassveld). I have a Six years’ experience as a Silviculture Forester managing own teams and contractors. During my Six year period as a Forester I have managed to acquired personal development skills, organisational skils and leadership skills have increase, I have learned to work independently and as a group. I have experience in firefighting, crew boss, initial and extended attack, Microforest, GIS, Budgeting, Team management, Payroll and Leaves management among others

Experience
- Ensuring that a professional relationship with the contractor is maintained and that the quality, delivery and compliance standards as set out in the job instruction and service level agreement are adherence to.
- Safety Management of all own operations by conducting routine SHEQ inspections
- Planning the re-establishment program for Longmore plantation
- Ensure that seedlings are ordered per planting needs and also ensure quality of seedlings at the holding nursery
- Inspecting and assessing crops by means of doing blanking enumeration to ensure that the stocking is good to ensure that timeous mitigation is taken which includes blanking and pest control
- Assess the plantation to ensure all pest and diseases and crop failure assessment is done
- Ensuring operations are timed correctly including planting, weed control, pruning and fertilizer.
- Developing of the Annual Plan of Operations for all silviculture operation
- Inspecting and assessing the stocking stand to achieve silviculture standards.
- Ensuring that relations with communities, internal and external stakeholders are effectively maintained working together with the stakeholder relations
- Ensuring that the MTO fire risk management system(FRMS) is used to identify risks, record and implement fire control procedures to ensure the effective protection of people, plantation and other assets from forest fire
- Monitoring and checking fire protection resources every Thursday to ensure that they are always ready and available to immediately respond in the event of a fire
- Maintaining relationship with neighbours and other companies in the fire protection association by attending the meetings and workshops for the local FPA.
- Submitting monthly report to the plantation manager, and also weekly report to ensure that achieve what we planned on time and attend to any deviations as soon as possible
- Monthly reporting of the Estate’s safety statistics via DMS system
