About Loyiso Nqakala:
I was recently employed as a Quality Control Intern at Distell Green Park. I have worked there for a full year starting from the 1st February 2016 till the 31st January 2017 and I have enjoyed it tremendously. My duties were to perform visual inspections of finished alcohol products, develop and qualify new testing methods, ensure that the lab cleanliness and the safety standards are maintained, verify and calibrate working equipment and machines, participate in internal audits and assessments when required, identify and troubleshoot equipment problems. I also worked in the microbiology lab where my duties where to perform microbiological analysis of filterable wines and perform sterility tests for unfilled bottles. I also did preparation and sterilization of microbial media, equipment and controls. I would welcome extra responsibility and challenges at this job position I am applying for.
As for my previous experiences, I once worked as a student assistant at the University of the Western Cape Residential Services for three vacations and my good work was highly valued. My duties were to provide a high level of customer service to Residence Vacation guests in a professional and helpful manner, provide front desk administration services such as checking in of visitors, room allocations for visitors, respond to visitor’s queries or requests in an efficient and professional manner, make and answer calls etc. This helped me know how to work with other people. I have excellent computer skills both (MS Word and Excel) as I was a computer literacy tutor for two years and five months. I have excellent report writing skills, analytical and problem solving skills, excellent planning and co-ordination skills, troubleshooting skills and good communication skills.

Experience
I am currently a PhD candidate in chemistry. My research focus is based on Catalysis and I have been working on the preparation of catalysts since my MSc project. I have also worked at Distell as a Quality Control Laboratory Intern for a full year. Education
I am currently doing a PhD in chemistry. My research project focuses on the development of zeolite catalysts.
