About lethokuhle hlongwane:

My name is Lethokuhle Hlongwane and I am a hard-working graduan  that is willing to learn new aspects that are related to environmental projects and other ethics that will enhance my knowledge professionally and personally. I received a scholarship from SA Sugar 
Association in 2018. I was enrolled at the University of KwaZulu- Natal, Westville Campus, where I was studying Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, majoring in Environmental Sciences (GIS and Remote sensing) and Biology. I would appreciate a chance to showcase my skills that I have obtained from the higherinstitution and previous work experiences.  
I am a self- driven, proactive student that is both independent and a team worker. I am an extrovert and I love working with people. I have been sponsored by Siyabonga Helping Hands for Africa for over ten years and have been fortunate enough to participate in Siyabonga programs that have taught me the skills of working as a team and have empowered me to be a mentor for my fellow students at Siyabonga Helping Hands for Africa. I have also been involved in environmental projects that have cleaned up my community, reduced pollution and raised awareness about keeping our environments safe and clean.  
In my courses, I have been studying human environments, general principles of chemistry, environmental systems, plant and animal ecophysiology, invertebrate’s diversity and ecology, geographic information systems and remote sensing, biological sciences toolkit, population and community ecology, soil erosion and land degradation, pollution and remediation biology, biogeography and climatic change, environmental management, research in Environmental Sciences lastly, vegetative and seed propagation.

I have been fortunate enough to be offered a job at StatsSA as a fieldworker which improved my communication skills, time management and to adherence by the rules. My duties as a fieldwork was to conducting the enumeration of an area and dwelling units (DUs) publicity, checking and verification of the DU count at the point, collection of data from all households, assisting respondents that opted for CAWI with questionnaire completion and conduct any other duties assigned by the FWS. All these duties had a huge impact both personal and professional as an philonoist.  

I would really appreciate the opportunity to gain work experience , that will enhance my professional skills and I will be able to share my skills that I have obtained in the past.
 

Experience

My duties as a fieldwork was to conducting the enumeration of an area and dwelling units (DUs) publicity, checking and verification of the DU count at the point, collection of data from all households, assisting respondents that opted for CAWI with questionnaire completion and conduct any other duties assigned by the FWS. I have also been involved in environmental projects that have cleaned up my community, reduced pollution and raised awareness about keeping our environments safe and clean.  Additionally, I have been working a private clinic, Revive Healthy Clinic for 2 years during Novembe school holidays (2017 and 2018), where I was serving a position of being a promoter, promoting herbal medicines and recruiting patients. I have also worked at the University of KwaZulu Natal (Ukulinga) as a farmer where we were focusing on breeding sorghum, maize and conducting thinning and cleaning the fields.

Education

After completing a National Senior Certificate in 2018, I received a scholarship from SA Sugar 
Association in 2018. 2018. I am currently a graduate from University of KwaZulu- Natal, Westville Campus. I was studying towards a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences, majoring in Environmental Sciences (GIS and Remote sensing) and Biology.
