Laryne Jefferies

I am Laryne Jefferies. I am a specialist in creating couture ladies wear garments. I am currently based in Johannesburg but am interested in relocating back to Cape Town where I am from. 

• I have been working in the fashion industry for 10 years. Graduated with a National Diploma in Fashion Design from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2012. 
• I started my career in 2013 studying under a leading South African couturier as an assistant designer, pattern maker and studio manager, I was in charge of running the atelier until late 2020. I managed a team of about 20 staff members consisting of beaders, seamstresses, tailors, assistants and interns. My responsibilities included flat pattern cutting for the bespoke client orders, fashion week collections, factory production patterns, cutting, managing the garment construction from cut to finished garment, creativity and guidance on beading and embellishment, fittings, alterations and final finishes and quality control. 
• I started developing my own brand after hours and weekends specialising in couture evening wear in 2014 and took my business full time in 2020. I love the process of creation, from concept to finished product. My flat pattern cutting making skills are excellent and can recreate anything from measurements and a reference. I have a good understanding of fit from size to size, garment construction and fabric knowledge. 

I worked at Gert-Johan Coetzee from January 2013 to September 2020 as an assistant designer, flat pattern maker, cutter and studio manager roles. I managed a team of 20 staff members consisting of beaders, seamstresses, assistants, interns and tailors. I was responsible for the production planning, fitting schedule, garment construction from design to finished product, fittings, alterations, creative direction. 

I also own my own couture label specializing in wedding gowns and evening wear and have also owned and managed a sports label called Movement Crew Apparel.

I graduated from Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2012 with a National Diploma in Fashion Design.
