Experience

In February 2016, I commenced Training at Goodyear South Africa (Pty) Ltd in the capacity of Utilities & Facilities Junior Engineer (Graduate in Training), where I was responsible for: 

 

  • Coordinating daily building maintenance inspections and jobs.
  • Managing building maintenance contractor team consisting of 1 Supervisor ,1 Carpenter, 3 Masons, 4 General Labourers 
  • Developing and managing preventative and predictive maintenance programme in the Utilities department
  • Developing and managing predictive maintenance programs for Preparation department critical equipment (Vibration Analysis, Lubrication, Thermography and Alignment).
  • Developing, coordinating, and implementing strategies and policies to reduce energy consumption

  • Taking responsibility for 2 Direct reports:  2 Engineering Technicians, as well as On-Site Contractors

In January 2019, I was promoted to the position of Reliability Specialist for the Engineering, Stores and Facilities departments. His responsibilities included: 

 

 

  • Performing maintainability analysis and write / update equipment maintenance manuals
  • Developing FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for new and key existing equipment
  • Coordinating bill of materials/inventory with outside suppliers to improve spare availability and equipment reliability
  • Supporting to maintenance department in equipment spare parts, equipment corrective actions and overhauling of old equipment.
  • Developing critical spare parts list for key equipment and implement a risk and prioritization schedule to purchase critical spares
  • Full site Banbury, milling and extruder motor repairs and maintenance 
  • Reviewing equipment specification and design documentation to assess the reliability and maintainability of equipment
  • Identification and control of obsolete stock
  • Providing advice to equipment improvement teams on appropriate reliability focus and projects designed to improve equipment reliability
  • Reduction of plant monthly supplies consumptions 
  • Developing and implementing equipment reliability improvement initiatives
  • Evaluating spare parts inventory for proper parts registration and stocked quantities. 
  • Training and skills development of Engineering Maintenance Technicians
  • Performing root cause failure analysis (RCFA) on repeat damaged equipment and developing repair recommendations to prevent repeat failures.
  • On site Rockwell Automation repair centre management.
  • Performing maintainability analysis and write / update equipment maintenance manuals

  • Ensure all test equipment electrical, electronic, and mechanical are always calibrated too the

Company standard procedure.

  • Support the quality department in all requirements of plant equipment performance improvements to the Company standards

  • Participate and assist all quality driven innovation to the equipment
  • Maintain production equipment up time in all electrical, electronic, and mechanical aspects of the equipment
  • Participate and assist in all equipment improvement or innovation ideas required by production to increase
  • Monitor and plan actions to reduce energy consumption as set by the Company standards and Goals
  • Manage Engineering monthly cost according to the Company monthly target
  • Mentor and train all subordinates for better performance in their respective disciplines
  • Monitor and plan actions to prevent repetitive or ad hoc equipment stoppages
  • Assist with all internal and external electrical, electronic, and mechanical installations
  • Assist with fault finding of ad hoc and repetitive electrical, electronic, and mechanical equipment failures
  • Manage and assign tasks to internal or external suppliers on safety audit findings
  • Monitor and manage all safety device inspection assigned to the engineering team
  • Communicate with external suppliers on safety device or equipment installations
  • Manage all internal and external supplier maintenance
  • Support the safety department on all functions safety related of any equipment or process in the plant
  • Maintenance Planning with Maintenance planner
