About Khodani Maf:
I am an aspiring Industrial Engineering professional with a strong passion for improving systems, optimizing processes, and finding practical solutions to real-world challenges. Over the course of my studies and work experience, I’ve had the opportunity to apply my technical knowledge in dynamic industrial environments, where I’ve learned how small improvements can make a big difference in efficiency, quality, and teamwork. During my time at the Ford Incubation Center (MSSL), I worked as an Industrial Engineering intern, conducting detailed time studies to analyze workflows and identify opportunities for improvement. I introduced a labeling system that made it easier to organize and locate parts, supporting the 5S workplace methodology and helping streamline production processes. I also took responsibility for scrap documentation and coordination, ensuring accurate tracking and communication between teams, and assisted in integrating new processes to maintain quality and consistency on the production floor.
At Nampak Divfood, I built on this foundation as a Graduate Trainee, focusing on quality inspections, time studies, and waste reduction. I participated in several continuous improvement projects that applied Lean principles, created visual management boards to track key metrics, and took part in problem-solving sessions using tools like 5 Why analysis and root cause investigation. Working closely with cross-functional teams taught me the importance of collaboration, clear communication, and structured process management in achieving production goals.
One of the highlights of my journey so far has been leading a project focused on reducing downtime in a mixing mill. By applying techniques such as Time and Motion Study, Kaizen, and Six Sigma, I developed a more efficient cleaning process and designed a removable plastic tray to make cleaning faster and safer. This project not only improved production throughput but also deepened my understanding of how innovation and teamwork can drive meaningful change.
Beyond the technical side, I’ve also enjoyed leadership roles, such as serving as a Head Mentor in my university residence. Guiding and supporting other students helped me develop empathy, communication skills, and a strong sense of responsibility. Recognized as a bursar by both the Impact Group (2023) and MQA (2024), I am motivated to keep growing, learning, and contributing to organizations that value efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement.
