About Keletso Mashile:
Being a biology (life sciences) educator is not just a profession; it's a calling, a privilege, and a passion. It's about igniting young minds, nurturing curiosity, and equipping students with the tools to shape the future of science. Biology is a dynamic and ever-evolving field that provides a unique platform to uncover the mysteries of the natural world and connect them to the real-world challenges and solutions.
Teaching complex biological processes allows me to empower students to understand the intricate workings of their bodies and the ecosystems they inhabit. This role bridges the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical applications, fostering a deeper appreciation for the interconnectedness of life.
I am deeply committed to addressing societal issues, from genetic disorders to environmental challenges. Through biology I aim to cultivate critical thinking, raise awareness, and inspire the next generation of scientists, doctors, and environmentalists. Together, we can shape a more informed and compassionate world while leaving a lasting legacy of positive change.
Experience
I am a young vibrant researcher/educator and have obtained more than 95% pass rate in the last 7 years since started teaching in the FET (Further Education and Training) phase. As a university student and teaching at Masccom Training Centre I was able to approach the Science Centre of North-West University to come and give yearly presentations about career development. I was able to use my connections from the University to come and develop our learners. This has really struck the attention of our learners. I was appointed by the principal as a Deputy Chief invigilator which included training educators how to run examinations; this has reduced the irregularities that could occur during the running of examinations. I have a master's in biology therefore I bring with me years of experience of working in the laboratory. This could really come in handy when learners are required to do scientific experiments. I have completed a 120-hour TEFL course with TEFL Universal and I aspire to use the skills to support learners that use English as a foreign language.
