Keana Parry Dias

My name is Keana Parry Dias, I am currently a registered counsellor, teacher, student supervisor, 
administrative assistant, agent for sales and actively part of a community outreach. I also have past experiences in being a former waitress, babysitter, tutor and mentor. 
I have always been an independent and adaptive person, through my first employment of waitressing and 
now doing promotions, I enjoy meeting new people and working in an environment of communication, hard work and customer service. Working in administration has been a new and exciting experience for me, I have enjoyed the opportunity to grow and learn new skils. Given the opportunity ofa new environment and customer demographic, I look forward to growing myself and sharing the skills I have acquired. I have dedicated more than half of my life to being involved in community service and learning about communities that are so different to my own. I have learned to adjust and adapt, but most importantly, to recognise that we are all human and all crave kindness. 
As a South African/ Portuguese individual I have always had a passion for travel, while sharing and growing my skills, which is why I am applying for this position. My love for counselling and ability of empathy has been my pillar that enabled me to build positive long-lasting relationships with people whose paths I have crossed. As a lover of learning and experiencing different cultures, I believe this experience would be a new adventure and cultural experience, which I am able and ready for. 
I began my first degree in psychology because I knew that observing and learning about the human 
experience is what interested me. Growing up in South Africa, I have been able to not only have clients, but also friends and family who are of all cultures, religions, races, genders and sexualities. This has allowed 
me to have an extensive knowledge on multiculturalism and diversity, which far exceeds the academic 
modules taught within the degrees. In being a counsellor, I have found my passion and love for assisting 
individuals to be the best version of themselves by healing and growth, which comes from providing a safe 
space to be heard and educated. In my practise, I utilise at Person-Centred Approach, with a lot of psycho education. In teaching at the school, I have also found a love for assisting learners to grow their minds. 
Within all the environments which I have worked I have recognised the importance of self-awareness and 
acknowledgement of experiences, while building effective coping skills and patterns alongside managing 
one's stress and learning how to emotionally regulate. For the reason that I operate from an Ubuntu or 
community lens, this almost always extends to those around us, including the importance of family support, boundaries, communication and healthy relationships. I have been privileged to have worked in many different counselling environments, as noted within my CV, from being at a Brain Injury Organisation, to Social Services to a General Clinic, to Schools and a Rehabilitation Centre. 
It may appear strange that I have so many different job titles and work experience, however the common 
thread is working with people and continuing to assist them in whatever manner needed.
